Witzenhausen, January 2nd, 2025 – faytech is the first company in the world to present biaxially curved, bonded, transparent OLEDs at CES 2025 in Las Vegas. “With this launch, we are opening a new chapter in display technology,” says faytech founder Arne Weber. The new technology will initially be used in the automotive industry.
The CES – Consumer Electronics Show – is one of the world’s leading consumer electronics trade fairs and will take place from January 7 to 10, 2025. The event has turned into an important stage for faytech. In recent years, the event has also become considerably gained relevance for the automotive sector, as the automotive industry is getting more technologized and entertainment as well as vehicle safety systems are playing an increasingly important role. During the last CES 2024 two exhibitors presented flying cars.
Therefore, faytech will also be showcasing a new product that will initially be used in the automotive sector at this years event. “CES is one of the most important platforms for technological innovations, and we are proud to be able to present our latest development here,” explains Arne Weber. Thanks to biaxial bonding – i.e. two-dimensional bonding – the transparent displays can no longer only be used on flat surfaces but can also be bonded to substrates such as glass and synthetic materials like PMMA or PC in a curved or bent shape. The new technology is partly built on developments made from faytech for the use of its touchscreens in aircraft entertainment systems.
The initial plan is to use the new technology primarily on windows of all kinds around the car. The glued-on transparent OLED then serves as a screen for passengers. Whether as an additional desktop to work comfortably on the move, for entertainment purposes or simply to always have a beautiful view in front of you when looking out of the window, no matter where you are – the curved OLEDs from faytech make all this possible. The screen can also be used as a privacy screen. So that you can enjoy the view, but at the same time maintain your privacy. To control for example automotive functions or for creative work, faytech also offers touch support as an option – naturally as being one of the leading industrial touchscreen manufacturers.
After a development period of around one year, faytech will present the new technology to the public for the first time at CES. The final market launch will then take place over the next three years. Several prototypes that will be on display at (automotive) trade fairs over the next few years are currently under construction.
In the future, curved OLEDs will be particularly interesting in the context of autonomous driving, when the focus will also shift to comfort and entertainment for the driver. Other potential applications include motorhomes, for example, which have many large windows.
