Razor-Thin 3D Presence with faytech Hololuminescent™ Displays

Hololuminiscent Display banner v1 web

Want true three-dimensional presence without the bulk of traditional hologram boxes or the need for headsets? faytech Hololuminescent™ Displays powered by Looking Glass deliver exactly that. These razor-thin panels (under 25 mm deep) embed a fixed holographic volume inside a high-resolution LCD stack. As a result, people, products, and characters appear to occupy real space with natural depth.

In this guide we explain how the technology works, why it is different from previous approaches, practical applications, and how easy content creation has become. We also cover the simple steps outlined in the official HLD Content Creation guide.

What Are faytech Hololuminescent™ Displays?

faytech Hololuminescent™ Displays (HLD) are a new category of spatial display developed in partnership with Looking Glass. They combine a standard high-resolution LCD layer with a fixed holographic volume built into the optical stack. The result is genuine perceived depth on a form factor that installs like a conventional monitor.

No eye-tracking is required. Multiple viewers can experience the effect at the same time without fatigue. Content runs as a normal video stream, so the displays work with existing digital signage players and content management systems.

Sizes currently include compact 16-inch models, 27-inch units, and large 86-inch human-scale versions. The ultra-thin profile (as little as 17–22 mm on smaller models) makes wall mounting, window installations, and tight retail spaces practical.

Why HLD Changes the Experience

Traditional hologram boxes are bulky and hard to install. Light-field displays often demand specialised 3D pipelines. Hololuminescent™ technology takes a different path.

Standard Pipeline
Create stunning 3D content using well-known tools, such as Adobe Premiere Pro & After Effects.

Instant Presence
Instantly transform 2D video into an immersive three-dimensional stage that stops passersby in their tracks.

Group Viewable Viewing Angles
Designed for crowds. Multiple people can experience the depth simultaneously with zero eye fatigue.

Icon plug

Plug-and-Play
Works seamlessly with any digital CMS or signage player giving flexibility and freedom instead of locking you into one OS or Subscription model.

It keeps the high resolution and brightness of a modern LCD while adding a fixed holographic stage. Standard video tools such as Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects are enough for most projects. Green-screen footage, still images, or simple 3D models can be turned into immersive content quickly.

In addition, the displays are group-viewable. Crowds in a retail window, trade-show booth, or public lobby can all see the depth effect together. Plug-and-play compatibility with any CMS removes the need for locked proprietary players or subscriptions.

Creating Content for Hololuminescent™ Displays

Content creation stays simple because the final output is a standard MP4 file. The official HLD Content Creation guide walks through the recommended workflow in clear steps.

Start with a still image, green-screen video, 3D model, or real-time engine scene. Import it into HLD Author. Frame the subject inside the safe “alcove” area, add a soft grounded shadow, and use a clean white or off-white background. Export the finished MP4. No custom playback software or proprietary hologram format is required.

For real-time projects, Unity and Unreal templates supply the correct portrait camera, lighting, and shadow setup. The same framing rules apply.

Once prepared, content can run through the included player, a standard digital signage CMS such as BrightSign, or a live Windows or Mac application connected by HDMI or DisplayPort.

Industry Context and Growing Interest

Interest in glasses-free spatial displays continues to rise. Looking Glass introduced Hololuminescent™ Displays as a distinct new category in 2025, focusing on scalability and compatibility with existing video infrastructure. The technology has already received industry recognition, including Display of the Year recognition from SID in 2026.

Applications that benefit most include retail product showcases, brand activations, trade-show experiences, public information points, and interactive digital assistants. Because the displays install like ordinary screens and accept ordinary video files, the barrier to entry is far lower than earlier holographic systems. This practicality is driving faster adoption in commercial environments.

Real-World Applications

faytech Hololuminescent™ Displays suit several high-impact uses:

  • Retail windows and in-store product presentations that stop passers-by
  • Trade-show and exhibition booths that need memorable presence
  • Public installations and corporate lobbies
  • Interactive digital assistants and human-scale characters
  • Brand experiences that require both visual impact and easy content updates

In each case the combination of thin form factor, group viewing, and standard content workflows reduces both installation complexity and ongoing production costs.

Why faytech and Looking Glass Together

faytech brings manufacturing expertise in professional touch and display solutions. Looking Glass contributes a decade of holographic and light-field research. The partnership produces displays that are both optically advanced and commercially practical.

The result is a product line that prioritises real-world deployment over laboratory demonstrations. Stock moves quickly, so early contact is recommended for current availability.

Technical and Practical Advantages

Key strengths include:

  • Depth under 25 mm on most models
  • High-resolution visuals (up to 4K)
  • Fixed holographic volume for consistent spatial presence
  • Group-viewable without headsets or eye-tracking
  • Standard video pipeline and CMS compatibility
  • Portrait orientation optimised for people and products

Optional interactive features such as IR touch appear on larger models, opening further possibilities for engagement.

Getting Started

Begin by reviewing the HLD Content Creation guide so your team understands the simple framing rules. Decide on the size that matches your viewing distance and space constraints. Then test a short piece of content using the recommended tools.

Because the displays accept ordinary MP4 files, existing signage players can often be reused. This keeps the transition from flat digital signage to spatial presence straightforward.
