In the vibrant landscape of touchscreen and display solutions, touchscreen technology in India is emerging as a pivotal force. It enhances usability, durability, and efficiency across retail, industrial, transport and other emerging sectors. We spoke with Sachin Kumar Gupta, GM of faytech Private Limited (India), to delve deeper. He discusses how faytech is fostering innovation and expansion in this dynamic market, combining German engineering with local manufacturing, support and customisation.

Can you share your professional journey with faytech India since 2018? What initially drew you to the company, and how has your role evolved over the years?

My name is Sachin Kumar Gupta, and I’ve been working with faytech since 2018. At that time, we were a very small company with just three team members: my father Sanjay, an engineer, and myself. That’s how the entire faytech India’s journey started.

In 2018, as a small company, I saw a lot of scope in the segment we deal in, namely touch monitors and touch PCs. It was a growing market, which drew me in. Moreover, faytech is a German brand, and the quality and reliability of its products attracted me. I saw strong growth and opportunity in this segment, so we hopped on and built faytech India.

Today, faytech Private Limited is the India manufacturing and distribution arm of faytech Tech Co., Ltd. We have grown from that three-person team into a New Delhi manufacturing operation serving customers across India, including retail, industrial, transport and defense.

As Managing Director, what have been your key priorities in steering faytech India’s growth and operations? How do you define your leadership approach within the organization?

My key priorities for steering growth include prioritizing “Made in India“. faytech India has focused on backward integration of faytech products, setting up manufacturing capabilities, and bringing backend technology from China and elsewhere to India to fuel growth. Customers here want locally manufactured products, so that’s a key area we’ve targeted. Our Delhi facility handles local assembly, while we are setting up an optical bonding line and progressing with in-house casing manufacture. Backward integration means shorter lead times, better pricing for customers, and genuine local content for procurement teams that require it.

Secondly, India is a growing market. We’ve been growing at a rate of 7% for the last 10 years and foresee this for another 15 years. The segment we’re in, touch monitors and touch PCs, has increasing demand. Check any sector, be it retail, industrial, or others; the requirement for touch monitors is rising everywhere. That’s a major growth driver for us in India.

The leadership approach I look for is commitment and willingness. These two qualities are very important: team members willing to grow with faytech and committed to it. That’s what I want to inculcate in faytech’s culture, and what I’m looking for in team members.

India is a dynamic and rapidly growing tech market. What factors have contributed to faytech’s expansion here, and how has the company adapted to local demands?

In India, customers require onsite support for all products. faytech India offers this with a distinctive advantage: we can dispatch a service technician to any location within 24 hours. This rapid response capability sets us apart from competitors, who often cannot provide such timely support. Our ability to reach any part of India within this timeframe is particularly crucial for industrial clients, ensuring minimal downtime and ongoing operational efficiency.

We start with phone and online support, and if an issue cannot be resolved remotely, we have people available across India, including remote and industrial areas. For customers running 24/7 operations, support that actually arrives is very important.

The moment we provide quality, reliability, and support, it’s a big advantage. Customers hop in with us and stick for a long time. We also work directly with end customers and through partners such as kiosk manufacturers, POS vendors, digital signage integrators, retail IT integrators and automation OEMs.

faytech India already handles local assembly and is now launching optical bonding production. What impact do these capabilities have on your competitiveness, lead times, and customer satisfaction?

In India, we are looking for backward integration. We are setting up an optical bonding line and will soon manufacture casings for our monitors. This increases local content. The two advantages are shorter lead times and better pricing for customers.

We have also developed our own product line for touch PCs, exclusive to India. The touchscreen is German-designed, while the PC is built locally to suit the Indian market and its pricing expectations, without compromising reliability and quality. This gives us a stronger local manufacturing proposition while retaining the engineering standards customers expect from faytech.

What are some of the unique challenges you’ve faced in promoting touchscreen solutions in India? How do these compare with global markets?

The touch monitor segment is still a very niche market, especially in the industrial sector. Not every industry requires it. Targeting the right audience is challenging. We’ve tied up with local platforms like networking sites and IndiaMart, which provide supplier details. These help reach niche audiences searching for touch monitors.

In India, price is a big factor. We’re adapting to local pricing while maintaining German quality standards. That’s what we’re implementing in the market. Local assembly and backward integration help us do that, because we can improve lead times and pricing while retaining the quality and reliability associated with faytech.

By and large, industrial applications across the globe are similar. Customers here expect the same products supplied elsewhere. There’s no major cultural nuance in the products we sell – it’s the same. But price is a big factor, and timely support is expected by default in India.

At the same time, customers increasingly want something specific rather than a standard product. That’s why customisation is becoming more important, particularly as we enter sectors such as aviation, railways, transport and defense. Our global R&D team supports us in developing customised solutions for Indian customers.

Could you share a standout success story or client implementation that showcases faytech India’s strengths and impact?

In India, we got into McDonald’s and KFC. This is one of our biggest success stories. We’re present across all McDonald’s and KFC stores in India. This was a difficult market to crack, but we successfully installed around 6,000 units, primarily for self-service kiosk applications.

Another example is airports. We have deployed 21.5-inch ARM-based touch PCs throughout Mumbai Airport. These projects demonstrate our ability to support large-scale deployments as well as more specialised applications.

Touchscreen technology is evolving quickly. How does faytech India stay ahead of the curve in terms of innovation and product development? Are there R&D efforts tailored specifically for Indian clients?

Definitely, touchscreen technology in India is evolving quickly. These days, customers require customization, driving our R&D efforts. In India, we’re entering aviation and railways sectors, which require significant R&D. With the faytech global team’s help, we’re customizing products for Indian customers.

We are also seeing customised requirements in transport and defense, while panel PCs and HMI displays are being integrated into OEM equipment in industrial and machine-building applications. The combination of local market knowledge and faytech’s global engineering and R&D support allows us to develop solutions around the customer’s actual application rather than simply offering a standard product.

Which industries in India are showing the most interest in faytech’s products? Are there any emerging sectors or unexpected use cases gaining traction?

Emerging sectors are machine manufacturers – that’s where our key growth will be in the next five years. Industrial and machine-building customers are integrating our panel PCs and HMI displays into OEM equipment. Also, the defense sector is growing dramatically. These are two key areas where faytech will see strong growth soon.

Transport and aviation are also important areas for customised solutions, while retail and quick-service restaurants have already demonstrated the scale that can be achieved in India.

How does faytech India ensure strong local support and customization for clients? What sets your team apart in terms of responsiveness and service?

We’re always available over the phone. Any customer can call for online support initially. If not resolved, we have offline people to cater across India, whether remote or industrial areas. We reach any part of India to provide support, setting us apart from others.

Our ability to dispatch a service technician anywhere in India within 24 hours is a major part of that proposition. We also offer a 24-month warranty, compared with an industry norm of twelve months. For customers, that combination of accessibility, responsiveness and longer warranty coverage provides confidence in the products and in faytech India as a long-term partner.

India has diverse environmental conditions and regulatory standards. How does faytech ensure its products meet durability and compliance requirements across regions?

In India, we have our own regulators, so faytech products are certified per local standards. Our products are BIS certified, which is important for government and large enterprise procurement.

India has diverse weather: southern parts are mostly rainy in summer; northern parts have snowfall and harsh winters. Depending on application and installation area – for example, indoor or outdoor – we recommend products accordingly to manage environmental conditions. We also have IP65-rated products and high-brightness options for outdoor and semi-outdoor use. Product selection is guided by where the unit will actually be installed, from coastal humidity to northern winters.

Looking ahead, what strategic initiatives or developments are underway at faytech India? Are there new partnerships, product lines, or market expansions in the pipeline?

The initiative is backward integration. We’re starting an optical bonding line in India. We’ve developed our own product line for touch PCs, exclusive to India, made here. The touchscreen is German-designed, and the PC suits the local market to meet pricing expectations while maintaining reliability and quality.

We’re also continuing to develop opportunities in machine building, defense, aviation, railways and transport, where customised solutions and local support are increasingly important. Our aim is to keep increasing local content while using faytech’s global engineering capabilities where specialised R&D is required.

Finally, how would you summarize faytech India’s core value proposition? Why should Indian businesses choose faytech over other touchscreen solution providers?

faytech India’s core value proposition is approachability. When talking to anyone at faytech India, we show high approachability, build trust, and stick to commitments. That’s what makes Indian businesses choose us. We’re always there to support them as a reliable partner.

We combine German-engineered touchscreen technology with local assembly and manufacturing, pricing suited to the Indian market, nationwide support, customisation and a 24-month warranty. Whether a customer is specifying a display for a deployment or designing one into a product, we want to be involved early and build a solution that works for the actual application.

Sachin’s insights reveal how faytech is combining German engineering and global R&D with local manufacturing, pricing, customisation and nationwide support to build a strong position in India’s touchscreen market. As demand grows across industrial, machine-building, transport, aviation, defense and retail applications, faytech India remains focused on quality, reliability and long-term customer partnerships.
